“We knew from the moment we walked through the front doors that La Villa de Mazamet was the place we would soon call home”
We are only the third owner’s of La Villa de Mazamet since it was built for an accountant in Mazamet’s wool industry in 1934 – a year that always amazes our guests as it looks so much older! We named the property “La Villa de Mazamet” as the name “La Villa” appeared on the original plans, now displayed on our hall walls.
We took the keys to La Villa on a bitterly cold day, December 18th 2005, and there began a restoration and renovation that would lead us up to just one week prior to opening our doors for business on May 22nd 2009.
Throughout the restoration project, which included a complete re-wire and re-plumb of the entire property, we ensured that all original features were maintained. So when you stay at La Villa, you will walk on beautiful oak parquet flooring that we sanded and varnished by hand, ceilings & cornices re-painted to show off their former glory, intricate marble fireplaces (all 11 of them!) buffed & polished, the original art deco baths re-enamelled and brought back to life....not to mention sanding and painting of 48 pairs of shutters!
All who have stayed at La Villa have remarked how tasteful and respectful our renovations have been – turning what is regarded locally as a landmark building, into a modern and sumptuous place to call “home” for all those who pass through our doors.
